Bursary Program – Deadline August 1, 2026

The Comox Valley Farmers Institute & Demong Family Bursaryis an annual bursary worth $1000 offered and administered by the CVFI. It is available to Comox Valley students residing with their family and/or their family resides within the Comox Valley and who have proof of registration in post secondary studies at a University, College, Technical School or similar educational institution for the upcoming school year. Preference is first given to students pursuing agriculture or related studies with the hopes of encouraging youth to enter farming and agriculture.

History – The Comox Valley Farmers Institute was entrusted by the Demong Society to manage and administer funds towards a bursary. The family name “Demong” pays tribute in memorial to Roger Demong, his wife Marion, and their three young children who were all tragically killed in a car accident in 1980. Roger was the Comox Valley District agriculturist for many years and was passionate about composting and promoting the recycling of our organic waste stream back onto farmland.

Applications for students entering post secondary education in are due no later than August 1, 2026. The bursary applications are reviewed by the CVFI bursary committee and will be awarded in late August. Please see the application package below for application criteria.

A Comox Valley high school graduate this past June, Alina is headed off to Lakeland College in the fall to pursue an Animal Science Technology Diploma.
