Harvest Supper

Every year with the completion of farm harvest work, the Comox Valley Farmers Institute hosts a Harvest Supper where we share a meal together, catch-up with old and new friends and reflect on the past year. Nobody can answer exactly how long CVFI Harvest Suppers have been taking place, but the verdict is for well over 20 years at least! This is always a fun and well-fed event! What makes a fine dinner outstanding is sharing it with a great farming community!

The 2024 Harvest Supper had over 100 people in attendance at the Grantham Hall! Thank you to our favorite MC and auctioneer Scott Melville – the Comox Valley 4H Calf-Club dessert auction was yet again a great success with prolific and beautiful desserts! Scott has been working with some of the 4-H kids on their auctioneering skills and it was pretty cool to see some of them brave enough to get up and practice in front of everyone; so very impressive! Dessert was rounded out by a self-serve icecream bar with all the toppings! This proved to be quite a hit! Thank-you everyone for your deep pockets and generosity!
Thank you to Gunter Bros. Meat Co. for supplying the meat mains for all to enjoy and to the rest of the attendees for the wonderful and varied potluck contributions!

A 2023 CVFI Harvest Dinner for the books with over 100 people in attendance!!
We were joined by local historian Jeanette Taylor helping us celebrate 150 years and taking us on a Comox Valley historical farming journey back to the 1860s. According to history, the earliest version of the CVFI (an Agriculture Society back then) actually goes back to 1872, so we are actually 151 years old! Who knew? Many thanks Jeanette!
