~ Celebrating Farmers, Farms and Local Agriculture ~
“Taste of the Valley” is a VERY special Comox Valley Farmers Institute hosted Farm to Plate evening dinner and entertainment focused on showcasing, celebrating and drawing attention to Comox Valley and local agriculture, aquaculture, farms, farmers, processors and the vast array of products produced here while giving back to our community. One of the priorities of this event is that as many, if not all dinner ingredients are locally sourced and the farms they come from recognized at the event.
The Comox Valley has a rich agricultural past, a thriving agricultural present and the CVFI consistently works and advocates towards a robust and prosperous agricultural future. We hope that by drawing community attention to our local farms and the bounty produced here, that we can be a small part of supporting our local food system! It is our sincere hope that we can grow “Taste of the Valley” and that it becomes an annual and recognized event in the Comox Valley!
2023 “TASTE OF THE VALLEY”:
This year, 2023, we are thrilled to be partnering with 40 Knots Winery, the Title sponsor to this event and Executive Chef and partner of Locals Restaurant, Jonathan Frazier. A five-course sit-down dinner is on offer this year! Famed local musician Luke Blu Guthrie will be providing the evening entertainment. We have chosen the Comox Valley Food Bank as our charitable partner for this year’s event due to the Food Bank’s important work and ties to food and feeding people in our community; this is what we as farmers working in agriculture also do. A minimum of $1000 is committed to the Comox Valley Food Bank as well as any further proceeds earned from this event. Opportunity for direct cash donation to the Food Bank will be offered at the event. Help us reach our goal of 150 tickets sold this year!

SPONSORSHIP:
We could not put on this event without generous local and island community support through sponsorship and donations for which we are truly grateful! Although we do offer various levels of sponsorship, we are also very flexible to working with potential sponsors to customize how you might prefer to help and what you might be looking to receive out of it. Through all sponsorship, our overall goal is to help provide you further recognition both within the farming community as well as the wider community, customer goodwill, and the ability to grow your customer base and source new business. If you are interested in helping sponsor this event, or have ideas on how we could make this an even better event, please feel free to reach out to us at: cvfinstitute@gmail.com.

Our inaugural “Taste of the Valley” was held in 2019 and was highly successful and celebrated with 120 tickets sold. That year, we partnered with The Comox Valley Exhibition Society and opened the Fall Fair (CVEX) on Thursday night with an amazing buffet dinner catered by Tria Fina Catering and Gourmet Eats. All proceeds were donated to Cups for Cancer. A Few Pictures from 2019 Taste of the Valley:
